Running My Small Business Without Breaking the Bank

Running My Small Business Without Breaking the Bank

When I first started my small business, I quickly realised that every little decision I made could impact both my budget and the planet.

I’ve always been passionate about sustainability, so finding ways to stay eco-friendly while keeping costs low has been a priority. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it—especially because it allows me to offer FREE UK postage on every order.

One of the biggest things I implemented early on was using recycled packing paper and reused packaging. Instead of buying brand-new materials, I save and repurpose packaging from my own deliveries and the deliveries of my friends and family.

Not only does this keep my costs manageable, but it also aligns with my commitment to creating a more sustainable business. I love knowing that when you receive one of my handmade pieces, it’s not just beautiful—it’s thoughtfully packaged with care for the environment.

I also believe in being transparent about the choices I make. Sure, reusing packaging might mean that not every box looks pristine, but I think there’s beauty in the story it tells. It’s a little reminder that even small businesses can make a difference by rethinking how we use resources.

Offering free UK postage has always been important to me. I want my creations to feel accessible and straightforward to order, without hidden fees or surprises at the checkout. By staying mindful of my expenses—like choosing recycled materials and eliminating unnecessary extras—I’m able to absorb the shipping costs and keep my prices fair.

Running a small business is all about balance, and every day I’m learning how to navigate that. Whether it’s finding more sustainable ways to work or keeping my packaging costs low, I’m proud of the choices I’ve made so far. And as I grow, I’ll continue looking for ways to deliver beautiful, handmade creations without breaking the bank—or compromising on what matters most.
