Why I Started Making Macramé Ukulele Hangers (and Why You’ll Love Them Too)

A Handmade Storage Solution for Your Uke

A few Christmases ago, my kids got ukuleles. They played them once... and then promptly abandoned them to collect dust in random corners of the house. Sound familiar?

I wanted a way to keep them tidied away but still easy to grab when the mood struck — so I made my first macramé ukulele hangers. Practical, handmade, and much nicer to look at than a pile of neglected instruments on the floor!

What is a Macramé Ukulele Hanger?

In case you’ve not come across them before, a macramé ukulele hanger is a decorative, handmade way to hang your uke on the wall.

I make two styles:

  • A loop version that hooks gently around the headstock

  • A cradle style that supports the base of the uke

Both are made with recycled cotton cord and finished with repurposed wooden rings — a simple, boho way to display your instrument while keeping it safe and out of the way.

Why Choose a Macramé Ukulele Hanger?

Aside from looking great, a ukulele hanger keeps your instrument accessible without cluttering up surfaces or needing a bulky stand.

Plus:

  • Saves space

  • Doubles up as wall decor

  • Handmade from recycled materials

  • You can choose a colour that suits your space

And if you’re like my kids and only pick it up every now and then — at least it looks good in the meantime!

Handmade to Order, with Sustainability in Mind

Every ukulele hanger I make is knotted by hand using recycled cotton cord, sent out wrapped in recycled paper, and packaged using reused materials — all part of my effort to create less waste.

If you’ve got a particular colour or size in mind, or even a different instrument you'd like to hang, just drop me a message. Custom orders are always welcome!
