How To Make a Macrame Drink Bottle Holder (Step-by-Step)

If you’ve ever tried juggling a water bottle while out for a walk, pushing a buggy, or carrying shopping bags, you’ll know how handy it is to have your hands free. That’s exactly why I decided to make myself a macramé drink bottle holder—and I haven’t looked back since!

A woman wearing a light green hoodie and black leggings stands outside with a blue water bottle inside a grey macrame water bottle holder, slung across her body.

It’s a simple idea, but surprisingly useful. Whether you’re heading to a festival, a craft market, or just out for a wander, it’s nice not to have to keep stuffing your bottle in and out of a big bag. Plus, let’s be honest… it’s a cute little accessory. Functional and decorative—what’s not to love?

You can make one to fit your favourite bottle, and use whatever colours suit your style. I went with recycled cotton cord (as always), and kept it nice and simple. You don’t need loads of fancy knots to make something practical and stylish.

If you fancy giving it a go, I’ve shared the full step-by-step tutorial over on YouTube. You can find it here – grab your cord, pop the kettle on, and come join me!
