Hanging Toilet Paper Holder… But Make It Pretty (and Eco-Friendly)

Hanging Toilet Paper Holder… But Make It Pretty (and Eco-Friendly)

Let’s be honest — toilet roll storage isn’t the most exciting part of home decor. But that doesn’t mean it has to be an eyesore either.

If you’re tired of plastic holders or overstuffed baskets on the bathroom floor, I’ve got a solution that’s both functional and stylish: a hanging macrame toilet paper holder — or, as I like to call it, a toilet roll hammock.

Yes, really.

A handmade macrame toilet roll hammock style holder, made with natural coloured recycled cotton, holding three white toilet rolls hanging against a white tiled wall.

Why a Hanging Toilet Paper Holder?

I started making these because I wanted something that didn’t take up floor space, didn’t look out of place in a cosy bathroom, and didn’t involve any plastic or drilling. The result was a simple, boho-inspired toilet roll storage sling made from recycled cotton cord — perfect for holding a few spare rolls and adding a bit of softness to a practical space.

It turns out, I’m not the only one looking for something a little nicer than a plastic stand wedged behind the toilet.

Handmade, Practical, and Planet-Friendly

Each holder is handmade to order using recycled cotton, and designed to holds up to 3 spare toilet rolls. It hangs from a loop at the top, so you can easily pop it over a wall hook, a peg rail, or even the back of a cupboard door — no drilling or DIY required.

It’s ideal for:

  • Small bathrooms where space is limited

  • Households that love a minimalist or rustic style

  • Eco-conscious homes avoiding plastic where possible

  • Guest loos you want to make a little more inviting

And yes — it really does make people comment. It’s the kind of small detail that makes your bathroom feel thoughtful and styled, even if you’re working with a tiny space.

What It Isn’t

Just to be clear, this isn’t a toilet roll dispenser — it's not designed to hold the roll that’s currently in use. It’s for storing spare rolls in a tidy and decorative way. If you’re after something to hang by the loo for daily use, I do make a more traditional macrame toilet roll holder like this one →

A Few FAQs

How is it hung?
It comes with a loop at the top — just hang it over a hook or peg. No tools needed.

Can it be washed?
Yes! Just remove the toilet rolls and gently hand wash the cotton if needed. It’s made with recycled cord, which is strong but soft.

Does it come in different colours?
Yes! I have lots of colour options available, but if you’ve got something else in mind, feel free to send me a message — custom orders are always welcome.

Eco-Friendly Packaging As Standard

Like everything I make, this item is wrapped in recycled paper and sent in reused packaging wherever possible. I'm all about keeping things low-impact and waste-free.
