Chin Strap for Summer Hats – Yes, It’s a Thing (and Yes, It’s Actually Really Useful)
Share
If you’ve ever had your hat fly off your head at the beach or while cycling (or even just walking the dog on a breezy day), you’ll know the struggle. I made this macramé chin strap to solve exactly that.
It’s a simple idea, but it makes such a difference—especially if you’ve got a favourite hat you actually want to keep on your head!
What is it?
It’s a handmade chin strap that clips onto the inside band of your hat using small metal crocodile clips. There’s an adjustable toggle so you can tighten or loosen it depending on how snug you want it.
I make them using recycled cotton cord, in any colour you’d like, It’s soft but strong, and the whole thing is super lightweight—you’ll hardly notice it’s there once it’s on.
Why bother with a chin strap?
You might be thinking, do I really need one of these? And honestly—if you only ever wear hats for Instagram photos in calm weather, then maybe not.
But if you’re:
- trying to keep your hat on during a windy beach day
- on a boat (or paddleboard, or just by the sea)
-
cycling, hiking, or even just running after kids at the park
…it can be a game changer.
A little about how it’s made
I make each one to order using recycled cotton cord, and I send them out in reused packaging—nothing fancy, just planet-friendly. I can make custom colours or lengths if you want something specific, just drop me a message before you order.
I know it’s a bit of a niche thing—but sometimes it’s the little things that make your summer easier. I’m wearing mine all the time now, and it’s one of those things where once you’ve got one, you wonder how you managed without it.
If you want to have a look, the listing’s here, and if you’ve got any questions, just shout.
